Community Supported Agriculture

2024 CSA Program Now Open For Sign-ups!

  • The term “CSA” stands for Community Supported Agriculture, sometimes referred to as a farm share. Participating in a CSA program means that you will essentially become a shareholder of the farm for that season. Your upfront monetary investment will be put toward the cost of operating a sustainable, diversified vegetable farm. In return, you will receive a share of locally grown, seasonal vegetables each week for the duration of the CSA program. Your return on investment will come in the form of a greater amount of vegetables on average than what you’ve paid for. In addition to that, you will be directly supporting a small-scale, woman-owned farm and contributing to its success as a small local business.

Like any investment, a CSA program is not without risk. As a member of the CSA program you agree to share in the risks associated with farming. While we will do our absolute best to provide you with a fresh, diverse, abundant, and beautiful vegetable share each week, you may experience some of the complications that can happen during the growing season. This could include weather-related issues, pest damage, crop disease, or other unforeseen complications contributing to lower yields of particular crops. Your investment in the farm through the CSA is highly appreciated and a vital part of paying early-season start-up costs.

  • If you are someone who appreciates vegetables and locally grown produce, getting to know your farmer, supporting small business, and caring for the environment, the Frontier Farm CSA could be right for you!

“I grow vegetables in my garden each year, is the CSA still a good option for me?” Most likely! As a production farm, our growing season tends to start earlier and last longer than most folks’ home gardens. We also grow a comprehensive variety of vegetables, some of which you may not be growing at home. A CSA share could supplement your home garden harvest, add more variety, or increase the amount of produce you’re able to preserve for the winter.

  • We have two CSA options for 2024: our Traditional CSA and our Custom CSA, both of which come in multiple sizes to fit your needs. See details in the drop down menus below.

Having trouble deciding? Compare our 2 CSA options here.

  • Folks prepay for a share of produce they pickup each week during the main growing season.

    • The CSA runs for 16 weeks from early June to late September (exact start date is TBD).

    • We offer 2 CSA share sizes:

      • Half-share: adequate for 1-3 people.

      • Full-share: adequate for 3-5 people

    • The pickup window will be Wednesdays from 3pm - 6pm at our farm stand at 449 Westerly Bradford Road, Westerly, RI.

    • Pickup will consist of a “self-serve” style setup in which all of the produce will be displayed similar to a farmer’s market. Each week at pick-up, we will post how much of each crop members can take home. From there, folks will pick out their own produce with some availability for customization throughout the season.

    • Feel free to bring your own reusable bags, containers, or boxes, but we will have extras in case you need them.

    • If you know you are going to miss a week, please notify us as soon as possible. We will work with you to make other arrangements, but your share will not rollover to the following week and you will not be refunded for that week. Additionally, you can send someone else to pick up your share for you, but please notify us beforehand.

  • Folks prepay for a CSA membership card that can be used anywhere we sell retail: our farm stand, our plant sale, and our farmers market booth.

    • You name your price (from $50 - $500) and we’ll add a 10% bonus on us.

    • This option gives folks greater flexibility than our Traditional CSA without sacrificing quality.

    • Folks can pick up their cards the first time they visit us for the season whether it be at our spring plant sale, our farm stand, or at our farmers market booth.

    • Custom CSA’s will be active for one year only. Any remaining balances will not roll over to the following year.

  • Our Traditional CSA can be purchased on a sliding scale.

    • Half-share: $280, $330, or $380.

    • Full-share: $430, $480, or $530.

    • Our sliding-scale option for our Traditional CSA allows us to subsidize CSA shares for folks who may not be able to afford one otherwise. Food accessibility is paramount to our mission at Frontier Farm, so if you consider yourself low-income and would benefit from a payment plan, please email us at frontierfarmri@gmail.com. We will never ask for “proof” or documentation - we will just take your word and do our best to accommodate.

Our Custom CSA can be purchased anywhere from $50 - $500. You name your price! We add a 10% bonus for free.

We accept cash, check, credit/debit, ACH transfer, and Frontier Farm gift cards.

All CSA shares must be paid in full by the first CSA pickup. We have a limited number of CSA shares available and they are first come, first served. Please consider paying for your CSA share early.

  • Some of our returning CSA members might notice a change in our Traditional CSA prices, and in an effort to always remain transparent, we’d like to address this change.

Like most folks, we’ve felt the persistent squeeze of the current economic landscape. After keeping our prices stagnant for the past 3 years (CSA, retail, and wholesale), we’ve made the difficult decision to increase the price of our Traditional CSA. This allows us to continue to grow the high quality, chemical-free produce our community deserves without cutting corners. It is an unfortunate part of our reality and not something we take lightly. We greatly appreciate your understanding and continued support.
